2026 Texas All-State Flute Audition Masterclass with Ms. Peggy Russell

Peggy Russell, flutist with Houston Ballet Orchestra (1984-2024) has been Affiliate Artist at the Moores School of Music since 2009.

She is a frequent clinician with middle and high school band programs, and maintains a private studio. Many of her students have been accepted into flute studios of schools such as University of Houston, University of North Texas, DePaul University, Longy School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory, Baylor University, University of Idaho, Northwestern and Boston University.

Peggy Russell graduated from Oberlin College Conservatory of Music in 1976, and received a MM from Indiana University in 1978. Her teachers include Robert Willoughby, Claire Johnson and James Pellerite. Ms. Russell is a dynamic, creative, and remarkably supportive educator.

This masterclass will focus specifically on the 2026 Texas All-State Audition repertoire. 

Active participants will receive individualized coaching on technique, musical interpretation, tone production, rhythm, style, and overall audition performance to help them prepare more effectively for this year's All-State auditions.

Masterclass Information

Date: Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026

Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Location: Vivace International School of Music – Dun Huang Campus

Format: Public Masterclass (30-minute individual lesson)

Tuition: $75 per participant

Participants: Limited to 6 Students

Observer Admission: $10 per person (Open to all students and families ages 6 and up)

This masterclass is open to all flute students preparing for the Texas All-State Audition, including both Vivace and non-Vivace students.
