Growing up in China, Billy has been studying piano for 20 years. At age of sixteen, he got accepted by one of the best music schools in the United States—Oberlin Conservatory and was granted a four-year scholarship. He studied under the Chairman of the department Robert Shannon, who is the pupil of Ashkenazy and Dorothy Taubman. Later he received his Master of Music degree from the Moores School of Music.
Billy teaches students from 5 to 18 years old, helping them improve in terms of sight reading, technique and musical expression. He has instilled the love of the piano in many, many students throughout the years. Billy understands what it takes to connect with the student and what approaches to take to teach piano performance successfully. He was a teaching assistant in Oberlin Conservatory, gained enough experience working with advanced students.
