Aimes Cass
Flute & Music Theory
Aimes Cass is a Houston transplant from Minneapolis, comprising the best there is to offer of both the Northern and Southern US. From age 14, Cass formed an indelible connection with the orchestral sound complex, winning the Audrey G. Baird Stars of Tomorrow contest a few years later after her and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s performance of the Nielsen Concerto for Flute and Orchestra. Her newest performances have been in Swan Lake with Houston Ballet, Turandot with operatic soloists of The Met, and in the premieres and premiere recordings of the music of Dave Brubeck, set for release with Navona Records.
Throughout her bachelor’s (UMN) and master’s (UH) degrees in music performance, she has grown as a second-generation student of fundamental American flutists Julius Baker, Tom Nyfenger, and Robert Willoughby. Additionally, she has worked with a number of current performers and teachers, including: Marianne Gedigian, Leone Buyse, Bonnie Boyd, Keith Underwood, Christina Jennings, Brooke Ferguson, Mattieu Gauci-Ancelin, Julia Bogorad-Kogan, John McMurtery, Adam Kuenzel, and more.
Cass writes and keeps up with modern literature as a supplemental discipline. She maintains that the further emotional learning and health of herself and her students is crucial for sustainable and happy relationships with the arts— and hangs out with two cats and around all of Houston’s coffee shops to support that project.
